The concept – that evolved from Rumi Yoga Wear to RUMI X last March – was created in Hong Kong, in December 2014 by Melissa Chu.
Right after being certified yoga teacher in India, never 100% satisfied by all the brands she had tried, it became an evidence: who else than herself could create the perfect tights she’d want to wear? The checklist was challenging but clear: comfort – no matter the climate and temperature -, easy to match with good basics and to wear all day, rocking original patterns and colors. But all this was on the top of being sustainable, probably the most important criteria to Melissa.
Guess what… She made it! After some hard work and research, she found a way to make a full range of products, made of… plastic bottles! RUMI X’s exclusive colorful designs appeared first on tights, capris and shorts and then on maternity crops, for the first time in Hong Kong.
This was just the beginning. The brand celebrated its new name and identity launching bras, tees, long sleeves and innovating again, recycling coffee grounds to make tanks and tops!
Not only for yogi, they’re the partner of any workout you’ll go for. Runner, Martial Artist, CrossFitter, I dare you not to feel good (and look good!) in your RUMI X.
Rumi X is collaborating with the UN Organization, lending them a helping hand supporting the cause of women’s rights. They created a “Singapore Committee for UN Women limited edition” with a sky design. 30% of proceeds will go directly to the UN Women foundation for their work in ending violence towards women, economic empowerment, governance and leadership.
Another cause close to the founder’s heart is women’s rights; and for this too, she found a way!
The RUMI X “Sky is the limit” leggings are a limited edition, in collaboration with the UN Organization. 30% of proceeds go to their Women Foundation, to support actions against violence towards women, for economic empowerment, governance and leadership.
So go ahead ladies, this gift will not only be for you, but also for women in need!
How did I feel in my “Rumis”?
The patterns had obviously stolen my heart at first sight, then I trained in their leggings. The fabric is so soft and comfortable, that you’d never suspect the material it comes from. I’ve done some high intensity circuit training and yoga in them. I felt really comfortable in both practices. They’re thin enough for you not to feel too hot but thick enough not to be see-through and to lift in them without being scared to rip them with the barbell.
They fit really well, sitting high enough on the waist not to cut your stomach and giving you the right support on legs, thighs, glutes… In other words, my butt looked fantastic in them (as fantastic as it can at least)!
I even have an extra motivation for you if it was needed… 10% off with the code RUMIXV on www.rumixfeelgood.com
